We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards. This position involves monitoring production processes, conducting inspections, and analysing data to maintain compliance with industry regulations and internal quality benchmarks. As a Quality Assurance Technician you will play a pivotal role in working alongside management to ensure that food standards are met across the business and look to continuously improve the sites food safety and quality culture.
Job Type:
* Monday to Friday, hours flexible to meet business needs and will need to cover varied shifts as and when required, 37.5 hours per week.
Salary:
* £26-29,500 DOE
Duties:
* Ensuring that all raw materials and finished products are to specification, including carrying out relevant on-line quality checks, daily QAS checks and Taste Panels as well as reviewing and updating the supplier database.
* Ensuring that processes and procedures are being complied with at all times across the site, including challenging non-conforming practices where identified.
* Carrying out appropriate audits as to the schedule, review and reporting them promptly to the relevant departmental manager, recording your findings and actions. This includes GMP, Plastic and Glass, process audits ensuring correct CCP compliance, traceability and product integrity, shop floor audits sweeps to ensure paperwork compliance.
* Following up to ensure issues have been resolved and closed out adequately and communicating any graphs or significant trends to relevant staff.
* Lab Sampling - Take required samples, swabs, water and product according to the schedule and send for appropriate analyses. Review completed results with the Operations Manager and take any measures that may be required.
* Carry out CCP verification and validation, scale checks and any other daily or weekly monitoring, e.g. temperatures of refrigerators. Ensure that all checks are carried out at the appropriate time and that if any ‘reading’ is out of range that appropriate action is taken immediately.
* Traceability.
* Oversee the monitoring of the weighing and mixing of biscuit and sugar pastes against W/O recipe with associated food safety controls and documentation completion, quality checks on icing production and viscosity checks with associated documentation and SOP’s, visual auditing for decorating quality compliance against photographic standards, verify finished packed product quality. Identify training needs and organise training interventions with departmental supervisor.
* Management of non-conforming items, not isolated to product quality, including generation of non-conformance report and appropriate escalation. Quarantine of products that fail to meet specification. Escalation to invested team members to enable prompt resolution and to organise transfer to quarantine zone if required.
* Review and deliver any required Food Safety Training (as required).
* Create and maintain Customer/IOF own specifications and create and maintain Customer Technical Request information.
Requirements:
* Previous experience of working within technical food production/bakery environment required.
* HACCP qualification (ideally level 3).
* Food Hygiene qualification.
* Experience in Audit training (ideally hold a certificate).
* Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills.
* Numeracy and literacy skills are essential.
* Excellent organisation skills.
* Able to work with confidential information.
* IT literate, Microsoft packages etc.
* Attention to detail, highlighting any deficiencies/issues, meet targets and deadlines.
* Challenge issues and be able to communicate issues and highlight areas for improvement.
* Able to work as part of a team as well as on your own.
* Willing to undertake training to support the position.
