Do you have extensive experience of working and caring for patients and families with Haematological malignancies and can provide complex chemotherapy regimes in a daycase and inpatient setting? We need you!
We are looking for a Band 6 Haematology Daycase Coordinator who is passionate about cancer care and can demonstrate leadership and organisational skills. Someone who is keen to develop the daycase setting for efficiency, patient experience, and safety.
The Haematology Unit comprises of a 7-bedded inpatient ward and an 8-chair day case treatment area along with a 3-chair isolation room and a procedure room.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate knowledge, experience, and understanding of the Haematology specialty and has evidence of their completed chemotherapy competencies and SACT passport.
Main duties of the job
You will experience caring for patients with a range of Haematological cancers and complex chemotherapy regimens. This will suit an individual who wishes to build on their mentoring/coaching skills to develop others within the fast-paced daycase setting. You will be exposed to a busy clinic, supported by 2x Band 5 RNs and a Band 3 HCA.
Your role will include management time allowing you to liaise with members of the MDT to ensure smooth running of the setting. You will be expected to have some awareness and understanding of current regimes and trials, managing acutely unwell adults, skills in drug/disease symptom management, palliative care, and leadership and management skills.
You will be in charge of the Bookwise scheduling tool, managing daycase activity with the ward clerk and admin changes on the system, including creating pathways and reports for activity.
You will be supported to expand your leadership skills and understanding of a Band 6's roles and responsibilities as a team leader of a small team, ensuring that you can lead in the Band 7's absence.
You will be allocated to ad-hoc on-call to cover chemotherapy in both daycase and inpatient areas.
Demonstrate flexibility in rotating onto days and nights on the ward when daycase is covered or Band 6 absence.
