Transport Planner
A leading transport company based in Dover requires a new Transport Planner to help them continue to grow. A competitive salary is on offer for the right-minded candidate, ranging from £35,000 to £40,000 depending on experience.
The company operates on a 4 on 4 off rota, with good progression options and growth opportunities available.
Job Purpose:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Transport Planner to join our team. The Transport Planner will be responsible for coordinating and optimizing transportation activities to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, along with a strong understanding of transportation regulations and logistics processes.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Resource and effectively forward plan all company resources, utilizing company and/or third-party resources when required.
2. Manage vehicle utilization and ensure drivers receive clear and precise instructions in a timely manner.
3. Ensure all service levels are met cost-effectively and within the constraints of drivers' hours and health & safety regulations while meeting all customer requirements.
4. Subcontract additional loads that cannot be covered with company resources.
5. Focus on day 1 for day 2 planning, working with the transport operator to provide updates on any same-day changes.
6. Ensure all farm load plans are sent through accurately and in a timely manner.
7. Communicate the full plan to subcontractors and drivers, ensuring accurate and complete information is included.
8. Update planning sheet for drivers' L/C, and start/finish days for all traction subcontractors (to be completed on day 1 of shift).
9. Add revenue onto planning sheet.
10. Monitor the planning email for reloads and upload own reloads onto Road Runner.
11. Allocate the full plan onto Road Runner, supported by the Transport Administrator between 16:00-18:00.
12. Forward plan with Fleet to ensure that all trucks and trailers are planned for maintenance and service as early as possible, and plan equipment back to depot when required.
13. Assist the Transport Manager in driver training by planning allowances for drivers in the office when required.
14. Be on call during the first two of four shifts, including having the office phone diverted to work mobile, dealing with all inquiries and issues in their entirety, and amending the plan accordingly to ensure all service levels are maintained.
