The Senior SQL Database Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining our on-premise and cloud based SQL databases, ensuring their performance, security, and availability. Main duties of the job The post holder will be responsible for providing professional technical expertise to ensure LSCFT's Microsoft SQL and Azure SQL database environments are reliable, resilient and secure. Administering, maintaining and supporting both on-prem and cloud based SQL Databases and servers. Monitoring database performance, implementing changes and applying new patches and versions when required. Managing database security, backups and recovery processes. Identifying and resolving performance issues in both on-prem and cloud based databases. Optimising queries, indexes and database configuration for maximum efficiency. Conducting regular performance tuning and capacity planning. Implementing and maintaining database security measures to protect sensitive data. Ensuring compliance with data governance and NHS regulatory requirements. Performing regular security audits and vulnerability assessments. Developing and maintaining automation scripts for database administration tasks. Utilising tools and technologies to automate routine database maintenance and monitoring. Designing and implementing disaster recovery plans. Conducting regular testing of backup and recovery procedures. The individual will need excellent communication and organisational skills, and have the ability to work on your own initiative.
