General Duties

Specific Duties
1. Work with children in the home, supporting them with their individual needs as outlined in their placement plan.
2. Ensure that safeguarding and the protection of children is always prioritized.
3. Work in accordance with the company ethos, policies, and procedures.
4. Treat children with dignity and respect.
5. Support children to participate in the routines of the home and encourage them to take part in new activities.
6. Promote education and support children in attending school, accompanying the child if required.
7. Support children who are out of education with educational activities and work toward educational outcomes.
8. Promote well-being in the home by ensuring the environment is free from bullying and prejudice, providing a safe and loving place to live.
9. Help children deal with conflict and trauma by supporting any therapeutic plans in place.
10. Work cooperatively and proactively as part of a team, supporting colleagues and the manager.
11. Maintain high standards for all records.
12. Ensure that the home is always a clean and pleasant environment.
13. Participate in cleaning the home and cooking meals.
14. Manage and record medical needs, including medications immediately.
15. Keep children’s records up to date, including placement plans, personal plans, and risk assessments.
16. Complete key worker sessions weekly and record them.
17. Attend meetings, which may fall on your rostered off days.
18. Work with external agencies, social workers, health professionals, advocates, and families.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Education
1. Educated to GCSE Level or above, including Maths and English.
2. Diploma Level 3 in Looking after Children and Young People or willingness to work towards it.
Experience
1. Experience working with children who have experienced negative childhoods.
2. Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
3. Effective record-keeping skills while maintaining confidentiality.
4. IT skills.
5. Awareness of using physical intervention to ensure safety.
Knowledge and Understanding
1. The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
2. Quality Standards for Children’s Homes.
3. Children Act 1989.
