Background
The post holder will support the College of Social Science’s Marketing and Communications team in delivering student recruitment initiatives. Working closely with colleagues in School, Department and University teams, they will assist with campaigns, CRM communications, events, content creation, market research, and website updates. Some evening and weekend work may be required for recruitment events.
Role Summary
We are looking for a proactive and motivated individual to join a large Marketing and Recruitment team within the University's External Relations function. In this role, you will support student recruitment activity within the College of Social Sciences by bringing in your marketing expertise to develop and implement innovative marketing plans. Using your experience in both digital and offline marketing communications, you will work on multiple campaigns, conduct market research, support with organising and facilitating our recruitment events, and implementing brand management to enhance our student recruitment efforts. Experience with CRM systems, preferably Dynamics, to create engaging and relatable email content for prospective students would be beneficial.
Working under the leadership of the College’s Senior Marketing Officer, you will work closely with our four Schools across the College of Social Sciences to deliver a flexible and broad spectrum of marketing and communications strategies. This varied role requires strong organisation skills, proactivity, and a collaborative approach. You must have excellent initiative, good communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
This role offers access to professional development opportunities and involvement in internal and external events, with some evening and weekend work required.
Main Duties
* Support delivery of marketing plans for programmes across the College, including support for the delivery of the enquirer and applicant contact strategy through the customer relationship management (CRM) system.
* Help to deliver a College-wide conversion strategy at all levels, incorporating CRM, in-person and hybrid events (on and offline), virtual campaigns and other tactics.
* Provide logistical support across the College in relation to University events including Open Days, Offer-Holder Visit Days, Discovery Days, virtual events and other recruitment events.
* Work with colleagues to continually improve the visitor experience at our recruitment events, ensuring that these are tailored to the needs of our target markets.
* Work with our Marketing Officers on the delivery of marketing collateral by writing and editing copy for the website and any printed literature materials.
* Work with Student Recruitment Marketing Manager and Marketing Officers to undertake market research, including competitor analysis and market scanning, helping to identify new opportunities for the College and supporting programme development.
* Work closely with the rest of the Marketing and Communications team to ensure consistency of messaging and content across all College marketing channels.
* Ensure that the University brand is adhered to and maintained across all marketing activity for the College.
* Provide general day-to-day administrative support to the team including diary coordination, booking rooms, travel arrangements, organising catering and managing event invitations.
* Maintain accurate records of marketing spending including raising purchase order requisitions and invoice management as appropriate.
* Identify any PR opportunities and pass them on to the Communications Manager or other appropriate colleagues.
* Work on several cross-University and cross-College project groups to ensure a cohesive and collaborative approach to all marketing activities.
* Deputise for Student Recruitment Marketing Manager and Marketing Officers as appropriate.
* To undertake a range of other duties as directed by the Student Recruitment Marketing Managers or Head of Marketing and Communications.
Person Specification
* Degree-level education or equivalent working experience.
* Experience of working in a marketing or communications environment across a wide range of specialisms.
* Experience of using a Customer Relationship Management system.
* A proven, high standard of communication and confidence in dealing with projects at all levels.
* Good copywriting skills.
* Experience of providing support for internal and external events.
* Experience of using content management systems (CMS) and implementing website updates.
* Ability to work with initiative, under pressure and manage multiple workloads simultaneously.
* Experience of liaising with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior managers.
* Well-developed administrative and organisational skills with a proven ability to pay attention to detail.
* Experience of working with social media in a professional context.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and a ‘can-do’ attitude.
* Creative and innovative approach to problem solving.
* Computer literate, confident and competent in the use of database systems and electronic communication.
* A real team player who can also work independently.
* Flexibility to work out of hours as required (including occasional evening and weekend work) and a willingness to travel.
