The Dental Service provides a wide range of treatments to a diverse group of people; therefore, good interpersonal skills are required to fulfil this frontline role.
You will lead a team of receptionists, spanning five clinics, including Wisbech, Ely, Cambridge, Peterborough and Huntingdon, so good communication and teamwork skills are vital.
You must possess excellent communication and people skills as some patients may present with complex needs or have a language barrier.
This is an extremely busy service offering a wide range of treatments. We fundamentally offer urgent care triage/treatment to those in need, but our clinics also include Additional Needs Dentistry and Minor Oral Surgery, thus good time management skills are imperative.
Additional working pattern: Monday - Friday. Clinic open 12 hours per day. Shift pattern to be confirmed.
Main duties of the job
1. Lead a team of Dental Receptionists working across multiple sites.
2. Provide daily planning, direction and support to aid the smooth running of the Single Point of Contact for UDC/DAC calls and face-to-face contact in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough reception teams.
3. Support the team with call handling and reception duties during peak times.
4. Possess excellent organisational skills and work well under pressure, with the ability to work unaided and under own initiative while being part of a team.
5. Monitor waiting times and escalate any concerns.
6. Attend and participate in weekly/monthly meetings which support and monitor the services being delivered.
7. Work alongside other Dental Administrators to ensure sufficient cover is maintained for all services and geographical areas.
8. Be competent in the use of digital platforms associated with Dental and its functions.
9. Manage Healthroster on a day-to-day basis, reporting all sickness/absence and updating individual shifts when necessary.
10. Handle enquiries from the public and liaise with NHS 111, HUC, GDPs and GPs to support the smooth running of the service.
11. Support dentists and surgeons with administrative work as required.
12. Investigate PALS queries and resolve informal complaints.

Knowledge & Skills
* Experience of supervising and providing direction to others
* Advanced keyboard skills, ability to communicate through IT systems using packages such as Word, Outlook and Excel
* Good time management & organisational skills
Qualifications & Training
* GCSE, English and maths grade C and above
* IT Qualification or similar
Experience
* Post Holder must have a degree of experience in the field of Administration
* Sound knowledge and experience of working within an NHS practice/organisation or similar
* Sound knowledge of generic patient software
