Assistant Practitioner, Band 4 x 2 positions
Full time 37 hours per week
Salary- £27,598 to £30,019.
These are permanent posts.
Applications are invited for the above posts based in Pathology at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. These posts will be based within the Immunohistochemistry laboratory at the RIE. The Immunohistochemistry laboratory is a very busy working area with considerable instrumentation that Assistant Practitioners maintain and fill throughout the day, as well as many other duties, to support the preparation of tissues, primarily for cancer diagnosis. The Immunohistochemistry laboratory has extended working day hours, with hours returned back e.g. half day early finish per week, on an agreed day. The successful candidates may be asked to work within routine Histology at the Royal Infirmary site from time to time.
Successful applicants will contribute in providing comprehensive support to the clinical laboratory service, working effectively as a team member. Candidates should be adaptable, have good interpersonal skills and a professional attitude.
Candidates should also have previous experience of working in an NHS laboratory which is desirable.
Candidates should be educated to SCQF level 8 e.g. HND; or SVQ4; or IBMS Certificate of Achievement Part 2; Personal Development Awards. This is a full-time post.
