The Edinburgh Academy is seeking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Trumpet teacher from February 2025 to join our thriving Music department, engaged on a self-employed basis. We anticipate this will be one day of teaching per week.
We welcome applications from well-qualified music graduates with relevant teaching qualifications and/or experience. The successful candidate should be able to teach Trumpet from primary to S6 as well as help develop the Trumpet programme. Teaching may take place in both the Junior and the Senior schools.
Individual lessons are charged at £46.50 per hour. Junior pupils have a 30-minute lesson, and senior pupils have a 40-minute lessons. There may be the opportunity for group coaching, which is charged at £51.50 per hour.
The appointed teacher may be engaged at other times throughout the year where additional rehearsals for performances both in and out of school are required, such as the Edinburgh Competition Festival, St Giles’ at 6, carol services concerts, School Burns’ Suppers, Speakers Dinners, end of year events etc. Such involvement would be remunerated at the hourly rate for that year.

Main Responsibilities:
* Provide weekly individual Trumpet lessons as directed by the Head of Wind Brass and Percussion.
* Give regular, informative feedback to students on their progress, and complete an annual written report for parents.
* Support SQA and other exam candidates as required
* Contribute to school and external performances
* Maintain positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
* Follow the guidelines and expectations of the Music Department
