Key Responsibilities Provide Expert Advice : Offer professional health and safety advice to all departments, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practices. Conduct Risk Assessments : Perform detailed risk assessments for various council operations and facilities, identifying potential hazards and recommending mitigation strategies. Develop Policies and Procedures : Assist in the creation, review, and update of health and safety policies and procedures to ensure they are current and effective. Training and Development : Design and deliver health and safety training programs for staff at all levels, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills. Incident Investigation : Investigate accidents and incidents, develop corrective action plans, and ensure timely reporting and documentation. Compliance Monitoring : Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and prepare reports for senior management and regulatory bodies. Emergency Planning : Support the development and maintenance of emergency response plans, ensuring preparedness for various scenarios. Stakeholder Engagement : Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including contractors, to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Qualifications and Experience NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in health and safety. IOSH Membership (preferably Chartered status). Extensive Experience in health and safety advisory roles within a large organisation, preferably in the public sector. Strong Knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk assessment methodologies, and incident investigation techniques. Excellent Communication Skills : Ability to effectively communicate and influence at all levels of the organisation. Project Management Skills : Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results within deadlines.
