We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Health Officer specializing in Food and Health & Safety to join our team at the WCR 3 level. This role is crucial for ensuring that the community maintains high standards of food safety and public health. The Environmental Health Officer will be responsible for conducting inspections, enforcing compliance with health regulations, and educating food service operators and the public on best practices regarding food handling and hygiene. You will work closely with other health professionals, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders to promote a safe and healthy environment. Responsibilities
Conduct inspections of food establishments to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Investigate complaints related to food safety, health hazards, and potential violations.
Prepare and maintain detailed reports and documentation of inspection findings and corrective actions.
Educate food service operators and the public on best practices for food safety and hygiene.
Collaborate with local agencies and stakeholders to develop, implement, and evaluate food safety programs.
Monitor and assess environmental health concerns affecting the community, such as vector control and water quality.
Participate in public health education initiatives and community outreach programs.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or a related field.
Certification as an Environmental Health Officer (or equivalent) is preferred.
Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and public health laws.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with the public and stakeholders.
Proficient in report writing and maintaining accurate records.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address health and safety issues.
Hours Per Week: 36.00
Start Time: 09:00
End Time: 17:00
Pay Per Hour: £31.00
