About the Role: Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Religious Education department, ensuring the delivery of an outstanding and engaging curriculum across all key stages, including GCSE and potentially A-Level Religious Studies. Develop and implement innovative teaching methodologies and resources to inspire students and promote a deep understanding of Catholic theology, scripture, ethics, and world religions. Lead, support, and mentor a team of Religious Education teachers, fostering a collaborative and reflective departmental culture rooted in the Catholic ethos. Oversee the planning, delivery, and assessment of the Religious Education curriculum, ensuring high standards and promoting students' spiritual literacy and critical thinking. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning within the department, implementing strategies for continuous improvement and ensuring best practices align with the school's Catholic identity. Contribute to the spiritual life of the school through participation in liturgies, prayer services, and other faith-based activities. Manage departmental resources effectively, including the selection of appropriate theological texts and resources. Work collaboratively with the Chaplaincy and other departments to promote the Catholic ethos throughout the school community. Ideal Candidate: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong academic background in Theology, Religious Studies, or a closely related field, and a deep understanding of Catholic teachings and traditions. Significant and successful experience teaching Religious Education at the secondary level, with a proven track record of leadership and raising student achievement, including experience with GCSE and potentially A-Level Religious Studies. A thorough and current understanding of the Religious Education curriculum and effective pedagogical approaches within a Catholic context. Exceptional leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate both students and a team of teachers within a Catholic framework. A demonstrable passion for Religious Education and the ability to engage young men in meaningful discussions about faith, ethics, and the spiritual life. Experience in curriculum development, assessment, departmental management, and contributing to the spiritual life of a school. A strong and demonstrable commitment to the principles and practices of Catholic education.
