Fire Safety Officer
Location: Barrow In-Furness, LA14 4QS
Hours: 4 on 4 off shift pattern which includes days & nights

As one of five Fire Safety Officers, you will play a critical role in minimising the risk of fire at our client's site and, when required, provide coordinated emergency responses to Fire and First Aid incidents. As part of the Fire Safety Team, you will also be responsible for carrying out and/or auditing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) of fire equipment and fire training.
Being a key member of the wider site team, you will need to develop strong, customer-centric, trusted, and personable relationships with all key stakeholders within Apleona and the Client organisations. The position requires an individual with a proactive, diligent, and conscientious approach to the work environment.
What you'll bring to the role:
Safety of our people is a top priority for us, so we're looking for someone who has experience in:
1. Proactively identifying and addressing or escalating incidents or practices that breach internal requirements, external regulation or present a risk to Health and Safety or business operations.
2. Ensuring all permits, records, and notices are up to date and managed in a timely manner.
3. Investigating and providing written reports on incidents including recommendations.
4. When on duty and as required, being the Fire Team's representative on the Incident Response Team (IRT).
5. Maintaining and repairing portable Fire Extinguishers to BS 5306 Part 3 1985 (Section 3).
6. Maintaining and repairing Portable Fire Hose Reels.
7. Replacing damaged or spent Sprinkler Heads.
8. Inputting/outputting data of asset spreadsheet.
9. Completing Safety Management Awareness audits.
10. Conducting basic training in Fire Loss Prevention.
11. Conducting practical training and exposure to basic Fire Fighting Techniques.
Ideally, we are looking for someone who has:
1. Minimum GCSE Maths & English.
2. Computer literacy and familiar with MS Office applications.
3. Basic Fire Fighting Techniques.
4. First Aid at Work.
5. Experience in maintaining and repairing portable Fire Extinguishers to BS 5306 Part 3 1985 (Section 3).
6. Valid UK driving licence.
