To assist the unit manager to achieve the agreed safety, environmental, cost, quality & service objectives throughout the successful & effective management of the operational team. The main activity of the role involves assisting the Unit Manager in leading, directing and managing the operational line management team in order for the area to achieve its performance objectives. The performance emphasis for each of the core areas includes:
* Operating to the highest level of health & safety objectives in line with Heidelberg Materials’s Health & Safety Plan.
* Operating to the highest level of environmental objectives in line with Heidelberg Materials’s Environmental Management Plan.
* Ensure all statutory legislation and company regulations are adhered to with respect to all operational activities.
* Achieve optimum production levels in line with commercial activity at the lowest operational cost.
* Continually advance operational improvements to improve efficiency with the production functions.
* Working with the logistics function ensures operational procedures are such that highest customer service levels can be achieved at the most efficient operational cost.
* Working with the technical function ensures operational procedures are such that the highest quality levels are achieved at the most efficient operational cost.
* Working with the Unit Manager to ensure all operational management information is accurate, relevant and is used effectively to assist in the management of the business & progressing all profit enhancing opportunities.
* Ensure that full assistance to the operational unit management team so as it can be adequately resourced & that personnel are trained & developed.
* Provide leadership within the site team, ensuring that operational goals & expectations are understood & personnel are proactively developed.
* Ensure operational control mechanisms are effectively implemented covering all relevant aspects (including Health & Safety, environmental controls, capital project management control, revenue spend controls).
