Job Title: Divisional Governance Manager

Reports to: Assistant Director of Nursing Job Purpose:
The Divisional Governance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the coordination of a robust clinical quality and governance framework within the Community Health and Integrated Care Division. The post holder will support the divisional management team in delivering high-quality and safe services, working closely with senior staff across the division, including the Divisional Director of Operations, Assistant Directors, Matrons, and clinical leads.
Key Responsibilities: Quality Assurance & Governance Management:
* Lead the operational delivery of the Divisions Clinical Quality and Governance agenda, ensuring high standards in clinical quality, risk management, and patient safety.
* Provide expert advice on governance issues to managers and clinicians.
* Analyze and interpret complex data to generate robust reports on key quality indicators.
* Ensure compliance with corporate policies and monitor quality improvement through audits.
* Facilitate the investigation of incidents, complaints, and internal investigations, ensuring lessons learned are implemented and shared.
* Provide assurance that the Division complies with relevant regulations, including CQC and the Health & Social Care Act 2008.
* Chair Divisional Quality Clinical Governance meetings as required.
Risk Assessment & Health & Safety:
* Oversee the Divisions Risk Assessment processes, ensuring all assessments are up-to-date and compliant.
* Provide advice and training on risk management, including Health & Safety legislation and procedures.
* Manage the Divisions Risk Register and ensure compliance with fire and safety protocols.
* Ensure all Central Alert System (CAS) notices are acted upon within required timeframes.
Information Governance:
* Lead the Information Governance agenda across the Division, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and timely responses to FOI requests.
Financial Management:
* Manage the budget for governance-related activities and procurement, including specialist equipment with a budget of £45,000.
* Support the Divisional General Manager with strategic planning for medical equipment and projects.
Leadership and People Development:
* Provide leadership to the Governance Team, offering professional guidance and line management support.
* Support the recruitment, induction, and performance management of staff within the Governance Team.
* Foster a culture of continuous learning and development, embedding governance, quality, and safety into everyday practice.
Communication & Working Relationships:
* Trust Governance Team: Monthly meetings to align processes centrally.
* Divisional Governance Administration Team: Weekly one-to-one meetings and daily communication.
* Clinical and Operational Leads: Regular collaboration for governance-related processes such as incident management, risk assessments, and audits.
* External Stakeholders (e.g., ICB): Reporting on clinical quality and governance.
Person Specification: Qualifications & Experience:
* Essential:
o Registered Practitioner, First Level Qualified Nurse or equivalent clinical background.
o At least four years of experience in clinical risk management, with a Clinical Diploma in Risk Management or equivalent.
o Patient Safety Incident training (e.g., NHSE Level 1 and 2).
* Desirable:
o Evidence of continuing professional development at a masters level or equivalent.
Skills & Abilities:
* Strong leadership, team-working, and communication skills.
* Ability to analyze complex data and generate actionable reports.
* Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
* Knowledge of clinical audit and governance frameworks.
Other Requirements:
* Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner.
* DBS clearance (if applicable).

Working Environment:
* Primarily office-based but requires travel to various sites across the division.
* Occasional exposure to emotional and sensitive situations.
