We are looking for a School Transport Advisor to form part of the Cumberland Home to School Transport team, which is critical to improving the quality, impact and value for money of home to school travel, including the experiences of children and young people and their families and carers.
The Home to School Transport team is part of the Education, SEND and Inclusion service within the Children and Family Wellbeing directorate of Cumberland Council. It manages and procures services for the transport of children to and from school and other educational institutions. This includes children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), who may be vulnerable, and will often require an assessment to determine the most suitable transport appropriate to their needs.
Services are delivered in a way that listens to and responds to the voice of children, young people and their families. The Council places significant value on working with Parent/Carer Forum and involving children and young people in the development of services.

Conducting Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks is integral to our commitment to creating a safe and secure environment for our staff and the communities we serve. This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and requires an enhanced DBS check with a Children’s Barred List check.
Please note this role involves working in regulated activity with Children. It is an offence for people who are barred from working in regulated activity to apply for roles that require them to work unsupervised with Children.
