JOB POSTING – FRONT OF HOUSE MANAGER (FOH)

The Club is ideally situated on an expansive, 290-acre property in north-west Calgary, only minutes from the downtown core. The Club continues to craft a culture of service and remarkable care that clearly extends throughout the golf course, the recently renovated clubhouse, and through quality member service and events.
The Club has recently embarked on an aggressive multi-year strategic plan that focuses on:
1. Operational Excellence – conducting our business operations to provide exceptional service and a quality experience to our members and guests;
2. A Quality Golf Course – maintaining our course to a high standard of conditioning and fit & finish;
3. Financial Excellence – maximizing revenues and effectively managing expenses all while balancing the member experience;
4. Brand Awareness – building our Club’s brand within the Calgary and Alberta golf marketplace to continue to attract new members.
The Club is seeking a seasoned professional to lead the front-of-house operations in a permanent full-time capacity. Reporting to the General Manager (interacting with the Executive Chef and Banquets and Events Supervisor), the successful candidate will support overseeing the F&B operations with annual gross sales of nearly $2MM on a permanent year-round basis. We are looking for an experienced, passionate individual with a dedicated focus on continuous improvement and a drive to push our service standards to the next level. The goal of the Club is to create outstanding memories for the members and this position will be a critical leader in achieving that goal.
The successful candidate will have:
* An amazing, infectious, can-do attitude with impeccable attention to detail and service standards
* Fluency in Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) & knowledge in Jonas POS considered an asset
* Private Club and/or high-end Hospitality / Restaurant experience and Sommelier or Sommelier in training considered an asset
* Proven track record of teaching, mentoring, developing, and maintaining service standard recruitment and leadership team consisting of approximately 20+ staff
Responsibilities of the FOH Manager include:
* Participating effectively as part of the Club’s leadership team, interacting with the Banquets & Events Manager, Executive Chef, and other departments to schedule and coordinate personnel and services for casual dining areas – Member Dining, Lounge, Patio, The Turn (Halfway Café), and On-Course Offerings
* Managing and communicating room set-up needs for reservations and special events
* Holding pre-shift and events meetings with servers to ensure smooth, efficient service; assigns server stations and coordinates the timing of courses
* Ensuring that all servers, bartenders, and busser staff are well-groomed and in proper uniform (including name tags, etc.)
* Preparation of annual budget (sales and marketing plan) to increase the profitability of the operation, monitors performance against budgets and recommends advertising and revenue-generating ideas
* Assuring proper inventory of all server equipment and supplies to meet required needs
* Acting as the head hospitality host at special, private functions and greeting and seating guests as necessary.
* Hiring, training, and supervising service staff and supervision of all relevant outlets
* Inspecting all front-of-the-house service areas and equipment regularly to assure that sanitation, safety, energy management, preventive maintenance, and all standards for the department are met
