Group Company: SIS UK Limited Job Title: Estimator Reporting to: Head of Estimating Direct Reports: No direct reports Location: Office-based Pinxton, Nottingham. The post requires some travel to client sites and SIS offices as required. MAIN OBJECTIVES To be responsible for the provision of estimates for prospective projects satisfying client needs in a cost effective, creative way that enhances and promotes the business. To manage the costing, scope, implementation and control over works within projects where required. To support the Head of Estimating and the Operations Directors in estimating and cost management of projects, including identifying areas of growth within the business, in compliance with business strategy and business planning. RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES/ TASKS Estimating 1. To identify any cost factors, such as production time, materials and labour expenses, working with the sales teams to prepare estimates, tenders and bids for clients. 2. To visit prospective job sites to gather information on materials needed, labour required and other cost factors. 3. To read drawings, specifications and technical documents to prepare estimates/tenders. 4. To collaborate with, and consult with, engineers, architects, clients, industry experts and contractors to ensure accurate estimates and to discuss and resolve risks and issues. 5. To negotiate project costings with the clients, building relationships with them to promote the business. 6. To evaluate a product’s cost-effectiveness or profitability. 7. To develop project plans for the duration of a projects. 8. To monitor industry costs and trends. 9. To contribute to the constant review and improvement of the tender submissions and costing process to improve the success rate for tender acceptance. 10. To design and investigate new projects to ensure the project is built to the required specification.
