At entry level to the OT profession this is a learning post forming part of a comprehensive and varied rotation through areas such as: Acute Stroke Rehabilitation Community Stroke Rehabilitation Acute In-Patient Community Rehabilitation Paediatrics Occupational Therapy Mental health The rotation enables the service to maintain consistent service delivery that aims to assist in safe discharge, reducing length of stay, preventing admission, supporting independent living as well as promoting general health, and wellbeing for our service users. Manage own caseload assessing, planning, implementing, and reviewing interventions. Prioritising case load according to need and risks identified To plan and implement individual and/or group interventions, in collaboration with the patient, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals, following discussion with the supervising Occupational Therapist. To undertake Occupational Therapy assessments for a designated caseload, addressing occupational performance and skill deficits, enabling the patient in areas of self-maintenance, productivity, and leisure. To work with patients to identify Occupational Therapy goals as part of the overall care plan. To engage patients in therapeutic activities to promote independence and well-being. To teach patients with disabilities new techniques to carry out activities of daily living including manual handling. This may involve teaching patients and carers how to use new equipment particularly in relation to health & safety and hygiene. To prescribe appropriate minor adaptations and standard equipment to patients. To undertake home assessments, as appropriate within given guidelines, applying clinical reasoning skills to the risks associated to the safety and independence of the patient at home.
