Are you a non-fiction acquirer with a keen eye for finding and championing the best non-London voices for readers everywhere? If you love non-fiction from memoir to lifestyle, entertainment to gift and humour, and have a track record of discovering, acquiring and publishing titles with the potential to top the charts then we’d love to hear from you. If you enjoy fast-paced, diverse publishing that ranges from IP to major auctions, then this new senior/commissioning role in our Manchester-based team might be your next move. We want to hear from you if you enjoy keeping up with trends across the media and the market, have strong industry contacts and are ready to find the best talent from across the north and turn them into bestsellers.
Overview of the Role:
You will be a key member of the HarperNorth team, building a list of non-fiction authors and working with them through the whole editorial process through to publication in physical and digital editions. You will be commissioning your own titles for the list, in line with the acquisition strategy of the imprint, and should already have experience of acquiring as well as experience of driving titles through to publication and beyond, positioning your titles successfully and steering them strategically. You will have a wide range of industry contacts that you can connect to and develop, and the ability to build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders as well as a history of great author care. The successful candidate will be attuned to the non-fiction market, having an awareness of growth areas across the wider media as well as the book trade, and a passion for the books that HarperNorth publishes.
