SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Cheltenham, UK
Salary: £90-£95 per day
Contract: Full-time, temp-perm
Hours: Monday-Friday 08:30-15:30
We are seeking an experienced and passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Special Educational Needs school in Cheltenham. The successful candidate will work with children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to achieve their full potential in a safe and supportive environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Providing support to children with SEMH needs in both individual and group settings
2. Creating and delivering engaging and inclusive learning activities that cater to the specific needs of each child
3. Collaborating with teachers and other professionals to develop individual education plans (IEPs) for each child
4. Encouraging positive behaviour and providing guidance and support to children to help them manage their emotions
5. Building positive relationships with children, parents and staff members
6. Monitoring and reporting on the progress of children, and adjusting teaching methods as necessary
Requirements:
7. Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs is essential
8. Relevant qualifications ( Level 3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education)
9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
10. Patience, empathy and a positive attitude towards working with children
11. A good understanding of safeguarding procedures
12. The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
