Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Supervision: Lead the echocardiography team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to junior cardiac physiologists and staff. Ensure the efficient and smooth running of the echocardiography service, including scheduling, staff allocation, and workflow management.
2. Advanced Echocardiography: Perform and interpret advanced echocardiographic examinations, including transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), transesophageal echocardiograms (TOE), and stress echocardiography, in line with clinical protocols and best practices. Provide expert advice on complex cases and provide a high level of clinical support.
3. Quality Assurance and Service Development: Implement and maintain quality assurance protocols to ensure the highest standard of patient care and diagnostic accuracy. Continuously review and improve echocardiography services, introducing evidence-based practices and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
4. Training and Development: Supervise and mentor junior staff, providing training, education, and ongoing professional development in echocardiography techniques. Ensure that staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform and interpret tests effectively.
5. Patient Care: Deliver exceptional patient care throughout the echocardiography process, from pre-test assessment through to the explanation of test results. Address patient concerns, provide reassurance, and ensure that all diagnostic procedures are carried out safely and in a compassionate manner.
6. Collaboration with Multidisciplinary Teams: Work closely with cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to discuss and interpret echocardiographic findings. Contribute to patient management discussions and ensure that diagnostic results are communicated effectively and efficiently to the clinical team.
