This role is ideal for someone who is tough, patient, and ready to make a real difference in the lives of students with additional needs.
Job Summary:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to help students overcome their barriers to learning, enabling them to achieve their full potential. You will need to be firm yet caring, able to manage challenging behaviour while creating a safe and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, Your Key Responsibilities will include:
* Providing one-on-one or small group support to students with special educational needs.
* Assisting the classroom teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
* Helping to manage classroom behaviour and support students in developing positive social skills.
* Working with the SEN team to monitor students’ progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
* Implementing behaviour management policies to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
* Supporting students in their academic and personal development, helping them to achieve their potential.
* Encouraging students to develop their independence and confidence.
Essential Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant:
* A recent degree in Education, Psychology or a relevant subject area.
* Previous experience in a similar role of childcare or as a SEN Teaching Assistant is preferred.
* Passion for working with children and commitment to their educational development.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
* A patient and empathetic approach, with the ability to adapt to the varying needs of students.
