Purpose of the role:
You will be responsible for the design & delivery of the interior design for a number of room2 projects, alongside the in-house interior design team. You will create standout designs that take confident risks, innovate, and challenge the status quo of typical hotels. You will drive design around the ‘hometel’ concept, focusing on details, layering, and storytelling, as well as a passion for sustainability throughout the design. This creative role is perfectly suited for a hands-on individual with a flair for interior design and experience in procurement and selection of FF&E and OS&E. You will support the expansion of the room2 hometels portfolio across the UK in line with our net zero roadmap, along with smaller new residential projects and refurbishments. You will also work to support the procurement and project managers.
Key Responsibilities:
People:
1. Work closely with the Head of Design and support in presenting ideas and design solutions to the Directors and Property Team during all phases of the design process from concept to handover.
2. Work with all external design agencies from design to graphic to brand strategy which impact and enhance the overall guest experience.
3. Work with in-house maintenance and operational teams to support the design.
4. Review and create new guest touchpoints, roll out approved experience enhancements.
5. Work on all points in the customer journey with all departments.
6. Assist in vendor management, including communicating with suppliers, obtaining quotes, and negotiating prices to ensure cost-effectiveness.
7. Collaborate with the finance department to reconcile invoices and receipts.
Places:
1. Create, prepare and present design concepts for review.
2. Develop design drawings (bespoke furniture, lighting, joinery, layouts) & schedules.
3. Assess and manage prototype stages of bespoke pieces.
4. Attend site visits at key stages.
5. Assist at FF&E and OS&E install.
6. Assess leading hotels and companies outside hospitality for innovation.
7. Work within FF&E and OS&E budgets and timelines.
8. Take a lead in execution, managing external resources, and see through to completion.
9. Support in sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating operational supplies and equipment (OSE) and furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE) for various projects.
10. Provide administrative support, including raising purchase orders, maintaining the product databases, and organizing procurement-related documentation.
Planet:
1. Review and update the materials, furniture, and sustainability databases.
2. Research and identify sustainable suppliers and their products, assessing their environmental and ethical practices to align with Lamington Group’s sustainability goals and procurement policies.
Requirements:
1. Previous hotel or hospitality interior design experience is essential; residential experience is a plus.
2. Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design.
3. Technical CAD drawing experience (Vectorworks preferred).
4. Experience in being part of a collaborative environment.
5. Knowledge of local and online showrooms and resources, industry trends.
6. Thrives in a fast-paced dynamic, creative environment.
7. Ability to multi-task across projects.
