Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a play specialist to join the Paediatric Surgery team on Acorn ward at Hull Royal Infirmary. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person for this busy ward. The post holder will be responsible for supporting the registered nursing team in delivering high quality care with the skills to implement specialist play in a hospital setting. You will need the skills to asses, plan and implement age appropriate play programmes including preparation for theatre and distraction. The successful applicant will be expected to work as part of the ward and the paediatric unit team. Cover will be required at times, for other areas of the Paediatric Unit, therefore you must be able to work autonomously, being able to prioritise, organise and adapt to changing demands. The hours of work will include day shifts only including weekend cover. The successful applicant will have a positive and caring attitude, have excellent communication skills, and show a commitment to the trust values, and be motivated to learn and share new ideas on improving the experience for patients and their families.
