The College Secretary is responsible for providing high level professional support to the Head of House, senior college officers and Governing Body to deliver the efficient operation of the College. Location: Hughes Hall, Cambridge, CB1 2EW Reporting to: President Salary Range: HHSP 55-56, Grade 8 (£56,027 - £57,702) Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Flexibility to work on a substantial part-time basis of at least 30 hours per week (0.8 FTE) with reduced hours during University vacation periods. Some evening meeting attendance required. The successful candidate will have experience in a chief of staff, governance, company secretary or legal role, and have managed board/committee meetings within the public or private sector. The ability to pull together strategy, governance and delivery is a pre-requisite. Knowledge of how Cambridge University and its collegiate system works is a distinct advantage. The position requires initiative and the ability to work proactively within the overall direction set by the Governing Body trustees, President and senior leadership team, liaising with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to provide clear and frank advice to senior leaders. The ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders is key, as are excellent planning and organisational skills, problem-solving ability and delivering results, in a culture where teaching, research and research translation are our core purposes. The College Secretary reports to the President and works very closely with other members of the senior leadership team in particular the Vice President, Bursar (COO equivalent), Development Director, Impact Director, and Senior Tutor. The College Secretary has line management responsibility for two members of staff (0.5 FTE and 1.0 FTE).
