Constructive Bio is a VC-backed biotechnology start-up based in Whittlesford, Cambridge. Our breakthrough technology harnesses the power of genome rewriting and genetic code reprogramming to make valuable products that positively impact the world. What we’re looking for:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and resourceful Laboratory Procurement Coordinator to manage the procurement of laboratory supplies, equipment, and services. The role involves collaborating with laboratory teams, sourcing reliable suppliers, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of high-quality materials to support research and operational needs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of laboratory processes and procurement best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with suppliers of laboratory equipment, consumables, and services.
2. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure the best pricing, quality, and delivery terms.
3. Fulfill the role of an approving manager for laboratory purchases.
4. Process purchase orders for laboratory supplies and equipment based on demand and inventory levels.
5. Coordinate with laboratory staff to forecast procurement needs and prevent shortages.
6. Ensure the accuracy of Inventory Management records.
7. Monitor inventory to ensure critical materials and reagents are always in stock.
8. Assist with order chasing, customs clearances, and similar delivery issues.
9. Be the main contact for the company procurement platform.
10. Maintain an approved supplier list and regularly assess supplier performance.
11. Prepare regular procurement reports, including cost analysis and supplier performance metrics.
12. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to reduce procurement expenses.
Other Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate deliveries of laboratory supplies and equipment repairs.
2. Schedule maintenance of laboratory equipment and facilities.
3. Carry out training for new starters.
4. Maintain time tracking records.
As an ideal candidate you will have:
1. Significant experience in procurement in a laboratory or scientific environment.
2. Familiarity with laboratory supplies and equipment (e.g., reagents, pipettes, analyzers).
3. Office suite knowledge (MS Office, online file sharing, PDF management, etc.) and at least intermediate computer literacy.
4. A proactive outlook with strong attention to detail.
5. Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
6. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
7. Confidence liaising at all levels both internally and externally.
We are especially keen to meet candidates with:
1. Previous experience in a start-up environment ideal but not essential.
2. Experience with the Amici platform.
