Job Function: Legal, Regulatory and Compliance
Join us and help share clean energy between GB and the Netherlands.
National Grid Interconnectors is at the forefront of delivering low carbon electricity between Great Britain and Europe. We provide the infrastructure and the market arrangements to move power to where it is most needed, providing security of supply for the countries that we connect.
As a Senior Regulatory Analyst, within the BritNed Commercial Operations team, you'll form the interface between the regulatory side of our business and the operational implementation side.
You'll attend ongoing regulatory discussions with all relevant stakeholders (regulators, TSOs, market participants, etc.) and help to shape the regulatory framework by giving inputs from a commercial and operational point of view.
As part of the role, you'll ensure the correct translation of regulatory requirements and their implementation into the operational business processes. Therefore you'll attend relevant regulatory market framework working groups and will lead/participate in process and system implementation projects.
This role is based from Warwick, and you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home. The role will involve regular travel throughout GB and Europe, and will include providing out-of-hours/on-call support.
Key accountabilities
* Lead from a commercial perspective on all ongoing external regulatory discussions (Brexit TCA discussions, market framework topics, Single GB price creation, etc.) based on an in-depth understanding of our commercial operational setup and the wider EU and GB market frameworks.
* Work with stakeholders to identify regulatory challenges and possible improvements to define the required changes and requirements to implement them.
* Ensure that interconnectors operate in line with compliance requirements (e.g. applicable legislation, I/C licenses, Access Rules, GB codes etc.).
* Lead on regular regulatory processes such as Access Rules drafting from a commercial perspective.
* Develop business processes/procedures and lead implementation projects for regulatory implementations into BritNed’s wider operational business setup.
* Be part of the commercial response team that gets involved in the event that the interconnector fails to limit financial exposures.
About you
We’re looking for someone who has:
* Knowledge about energy market regulation in GB and the EU.
* An understanding of imbalance pricing, electricity trading, ancillary services, electricity market contractual frameworks and stakeholders.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly the ability to summarise complex processes and circumstances, weighing up all of the relevant factors and giving recommendations.
* An analytical mindset and the ability to translate legal requirements into operational processes to ensure compliance.
* Ability to self-motivate and take the lead in the delivery of complex negotiations and solutions.
* Experience within an energy market related organisation or authority is an advantage.
* Master's or bachelor’s degree in the field of economics, engineering, politics or similar.
