My client, a Tier 2 Civil Engineering contractor with extensive experience in delivering a wide range of highways maintenance contracts, is currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor with experience in highway maintenance, resurfacing, or drainage to join them on a freelance basis. Both the site office and projects will be based in Central London (Zone 1) and you will have the option of hybrid working up to 2 days a week at home. Scope of work involves working on local authority schemes up to £5m with an expected duration of up to 3 years.Our client is open to assessing you for outside of IR35, but there is no guarantee. Responsibilities:Managing all commercial aspects of projects including procurement, cost planning, contract administration, and final account settlementEnsuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standardsLiaising with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to manage project costs and minimise riskPreparing accurate cost estimates and budget reports for all projectsManaging all commercial and contractual matters with clients and stakeholdersIdentifying potential risks and proposing effective solutions to mitigate themManaging the workload and performance of the project teamProviding regular reports and updates to senior management on project progress, cost control, and commercial risks.Requirements:Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalentMinimum of 5 years of experience in Quantity Surveying, with a focus on rail projects ideally refurbishment packagesExperience in managing projects up to £10m in valueExperience of working with Network Rail procedures and regulationsStrong commercial awareness with the ability to manage project costs and maximise profitsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliersStrong negotiation and problem-solving skillsExperience in managing and mentoring a team of Quantity Surveyors.If you are a self-motivated, driven Quantity Surveyor with a proven track record in delivering high-quality rail projects and are looking for your next challenge, we would love to hear from you.Please email ato reach out directly and click apply with your CV and covering letter outlining your experience, skills, and why you are interested in this role.
