Job summary Our Adult Mental Health Inpatient team are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Mental Health Charge Nurse to join our friendly team, who provide skilled care to adults who require an inpatient admission. To be a successful applicant you will need to be a registered nurse, with at least 2 years experience of working with those who have a mental health condition. You must provide compassionate care to patients and their families. You will play an important role in the team as we aspire to provide excellent care to our patients and develop our service in line with national and local guidance. You will be expected to work within the wider MDT implementing and evaluating care. You will supervise junior staff and students within the team. The Orchards comprises of a 20 bedded Acute Ward and 10 bedded PICU for both male and female adults. We provide assessment, care and treatment for adults with serious mental illness and/or personality disorder, who may present with challenging behaviours. You will need to be able to work a variety of shift patterns including nights and weekends. Main duties of the job To assist the Ward Manager in providing Leadership and Clinical Management to a Ward ensuring the provision of quality nursing care to all service users on the ward/department. They will provide clinical and managerial leadership to junior staff, providing supervision, support and guidance. As a Charge Nurse, you will also work within the Place of Safety and provide leadership out of hours to the unit.
