Role Purpose
Leads the team of platform engineers, ensuring the successful design, development, implementation & change management for all enterprise IT platforms.
Accountabilities
* Prioritise, plan and execute the development backlog for all enterprise IT platforms, ensuring effective development performance against user experience and technical KPIs.
* Lead the day-to-day operations of the IT platform team, ensuring effective prioritisation of work against business priorities.
* Manage operational and capital expenditure, ensuring budget adherence, cost efficiency, and maximising returns on investments in assets and tools.
* Stay informed on innovative industry trends and technologies.
* Manage resourcing, tools and capabilities required to implement and optimise IT platforms, including implementation of new platforms.
* Manage comprehensive testing and validation processes to meet the highest performance and quality standards.
* Collaborate with other managers and senior leaders to ensure that IT platform services align with strategic business objectives.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the team, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
* Manage relationships with external partners and vendors, ensuring the timely delivery and integration of IT platform changes.
* Ensure team compliance with industry regulations and internal standards, providing guidance on technical and regulatory issues as needed.
* Manage self & task: role model Arqiva’s culture goals with the team, building respect and credibility; set a high-performance bar and challenge the team to deliver sustainable results, by developing the skills and capabilities of the team and focusing on outcomes.
* Manage relationships & communications: connect, collaborate & lead communication transparently, balancing face to face and virtual, with own team and teams across the business to encourage cross-functional understanding, agreement and knowledge sharing.
Skills
* Strategic thinking and leadership in a technical context, with outstanding IT platform engineering and design skills.
* Expert level of technical proficiency and the ability to guide the direction of complex projects and technology choices.
* Influential communication skills, capable of engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
* In-depth knowledge of the latest technological advancements and how these can be leveraged to benefit the sector and Arqiva.
* A deep understanding of best practices in software engineering, including security, scalability, and maintainability.
* Familiarity with programming languages commonly used in the industry.
* Good problem solving, analytical and logical skills to troubleshoot and solve complex software problems.
* Good written and verbal communication skills, necessary for effective teamwork, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.
Knowledge & Experience
* Substantial experience in IT platform development, with a substantial period spent in senior technical roles.
* Substantial experience in leading enterprise-level IT platform initiatives.
* Experience of leading IT or software engineering teams.
* Expert knowledge of agile methodologies and strategic management.
* Proven track record of driving innovation and continuous improvement.
* Managing multiple technical disciplines.
* Experience leading cross-functional teams, including developers, administrators, and support staff.
Qualifications: Relevant qualification (Science or Computer Science or similar) and/or industry experience.
