We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated team member who will join us on Portesham - Frailty Unit.
We are a small acute elderly care ward at DCH with high turnover and complex patient client group. You will be front line in welcoming staff, patients and relatives to the ward, answering calls and queries. We require excellent diplomacy skills, and a readiness to learn all the computer systems required to help the hospital ward function.
As a new unit, we are short stay of around three days for elderly clients who require short-term medical intervention, then home, such as blood transfusion, IV antibiotics, observations, simple package of care sorting, etc.
As a Ward Administrator, you will be partly ward clerk with daily ward-facing duties, plus admin duties supporting the ward Sister with admin, E-rostering, and HR letters, etc. You will be answering the doorbell, using PAS to admit and discharge patients to the ward systems from ED.
Your responsibilities include keeping the ward running smoothly, managing admissions and discharges, chasing doctors for EDS documents, booking transport and TTAs via the system, and working closely with the ward team to ensure all pathways for the patient link up, such as outpatient appointments. You will ensure the correct discharge pathway is followed and provide information to support teams such as Community hospitals and Community hubs.
