About the role:
The Head of Commercial leads and manages all commercial activities of the Club, through developing and implementing an innovative, growth-focused commercial strategy and nurturing partnerships.
You will be responsible for all commercial activities, across several revenue streams including Partnerships, Hospitality, Ticketing, Conferences, Events, and Retail.
The role is responsible for shaping the presence of the already established Burton Albion brand experience and product within the local, regional, and national business community. Key responsibilities include:
1. Develop and implement commercial strategies according to the Club’s goals and objectives, aiming to accelerate growth in the local, regional, and national markets.
2. Maximise revenue opportunities through partnerships, with a focus on securing local, regional, and national partnerships.
3. Identify, negotiate, and manage partnerships and sponsorship deals with brands, businesses, and organisations.
4. Conduct market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities (expansion, business development etc.).
5. Grow hospitality revenue through seasonal and match by match hospitality sales.
6. Through effective leadership support the Ticketing Department to reach ticketing targets and grow attendances at games.
7. Through effective leadership support the Retail Department to reach retail targets and maximise revenue.
8. Maximise revenue through growing the stadium's usage through conference, banqueting, and event sales.
9. Identify and grow any additional revenue streams across the club.
Skills & Experience Required:
1. Proven experience in a similar role ideally within the sports/entertainment industry.
2. Experience of securing sponsorship/partnerships within sports, media, or entertainment.
3. Experience of commercial contracts including rights negotiation.
4. Proven track record of successful strategy development and implementation, including return on investment.
5. Experience and/or knowledge of additional revenue streams of a football club.
6. Demonstrable experience building excellent working relationships and dealing with senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
7. Willing and able to adapt and respond quickly to change.
8. An outgoing and confident personality, with good interpersonal and social skills.
9. Excellent communication skills with the ability to synopsise information for briefings.
10. Resilient, flexible, and a positive attitude.
11. Ability to work without supervision when needed, to deadlines and with a pro-active desire to improve efficiencies, processes & working practice.
