Midlands Arts Centre (MAC), is an exciting, ambitious arts centre with a busy programme of theatre, music, dance, independent cinema, exhibitions, creative courses and special events. We’re looking for a Marketing Officer brimming with energy and ideas to keep MAC moving forward. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in delivering successful marketing campaigns across the full range of channels, along with a good understanding of the sector. You’ll be a data geek with great gut instinct and a can-do attitude. With a focus on our multi-artform performances and wide-ranging cinema programme and related accessibility initiatives, you’ll devise and execute creative campaigns that drive attendance and make sure we’re hitting our audience development targets.

Principal Purpose of Post
* To initiate and deliver comprehensive offline and online marketing campaigns in line with MAC’s Business Plan and Priorities to promote MAC’s busy programme of activities, with a focus on performances (including theatre, dance, music, comedy and family events) and wide-ranging cinema programme.
* To promote MAC’s programme to a diverse range of audiences, visitors and customers, in line with strategic audience, visitor and customer objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* To produce and implement approved marketing strategies across all channels, including placing and fulfilling print and digital advertising, developing website content and producing/delivering regular email and social media campaigns, within agreed budgets and timeframes.
* To work closely with MAC’s Performances and Cinema Producers and related marketing contacts such as those from external touring companies or film festivals to support effective promotion of each programme strand.
* Lead on marketing delivery for MAC’s Expanding the Frame initiative.
* To analyse and interpret data relating to performances and cinema to monitor sales, grow and develop audiences and inform future strategy.
* To support marketing activities across the department, including promotion of the courses, exhibitions, other programme strands and strategic priorities as required.
* To assist in the smooth running of the department, adhering to agreed administrative and financial systems and budgets.
* To update and maintain MAC’s website and social media channels to include clear, accurate and appealing content, collaborating closely with marketing colleagues to strategically prioritise and schedule information.
* To liaise with external suppliers e.g. printers, mailing houses, advertising opportunities, partner organisations and other arts organisations, securing the most favourable rates for MAC.
* To produce copy to a high standard of quality and accuracy across all of MAC’s marketing output.
* To act as the accessibility champion for the team ensuring appropriate and accurate use of terminology and awareness of MAC’s access strategies in our output.
* To undertake small-scale in-house design for print and digital, in line with MAC’s brand guidelines, such producing adverts, flyers, banners and other promotional material and resizing/optimising images.
* To contribute to the overall effectiveness of MAC, working within agreed procedures, budgets and policies.
* To maintain promotional materials within the building.
* Undertake any other duties which may be required from this post.

Person Specification
A person specification describes the areas of knowledge, skills and experience a person should possess in order to take up the post.
Essential
* An understanding and commitment to MAC’s key objectives.
* A minimum of 18 months’ experience in a similar role or organisation.
* Educated to A Level standard or equivalent, with GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English.
* Motivated and ambitious, with a passion for the arts and a commitment to a career in arts marketing.
* A positive, constructive, collaborative approach to working flexibly and under pressure individually and as part of a busy team.
* The ability to write and implement informed, targeted and strategic marketing campaigns.
* Excellent copywriting skills, with a high degree of accuracy and proven ability to adapt content for specific audiences.
* Experience of website content management systems (CMS).
* An analytical approach to data and research to inform strategy.
* Knowledge of basic design and related principles, preferably using Adobe Creative Suite (In-Design, Photoshop and Acrobat).
* Proven ability to schedule, prioritise and complete work within competing deadlines.
* Proven experience of managing relationships with external suppliers and partners.
* A creative and innovative mind-set and approach to problem solving.
Desirable
* A knowledge of marketing systems such as box office software (training will be provided on MAC’s CRM system, Spektrix).
* Qualification in Marketing and/or Arts Marketing training.
* Knowledge of the operation and scope of a multidisciplinary Arts Centre.
* Knowledge and interest in performing arts and cinema.
* Knowledge and interest in accessibility and accessibility best practice.
* Experience in delivering targeted audience development initiatives.
* Proven attention to detail and strong organisational and administrative skills, including an ability to establish and maintain files and systems.
