NHS FIXED TERM LOCUM CONSULTANT RESPIRATORY PHYSICIAN
Are you looking for a better work-life balance? If so, this opportunity could be ideal for you! The successful applicant will work alongside 7 existing consultant colleagues to provide core respiratory services and to further develop our sub-specialty services.
This fantastic forward-looking team consists of eight consultants, six Respiratory SPR's, and a team of core medical trainees, foundation trainees, and trust grade doctors. Our client is looking for someone with a range of interests who can provide core respiratory services and help to further develop their sub-specialty services.
The main purpose of the post is to support the development of the asthma service in collaboration with their regional specialist service. You will be expected to focus on timely follow-up of high-risk acute asthma admissions, admission avoidance, ambulatory asthma reviews, and integrated asthma care. The post holder will actively participate in the Difficult Asthma MDT at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, and there may be an opportunity to attend a specialist weekly clinic.
The hospital is supported by trainees and has 3 SpR's, 4 core trainees, 6 foundation doctors, and an excellent admin team comprising personal assistants, medical secretaries, and support workers.
The new post has been created due to the increasing demand for specialist respiratory services in the region. The department has some exciting times ahead as they expand both their EBUS and Home NIV services.
The location is well known for its beautiful beaches and harbors, natural beauty, excellent travel connections, and its picturesque villages. It is one of England's most historic counties; if you find yourself torn between the rolling inland countryside and the quintessential British coast, then this location would be ideal for you.
The Department of Respiratory Medicine provides a wide range of services including Asthma, COPD, Interstitial Lung Disease, Tuberculosis, and Occupational Lung Disease. The appointee will be expected to help develop and enhance the general and respiratory medicine services for both inpatients and outpatients.
The hospital is particularly interested in candidates with an interest in difficult asthma, interstitial lung disease, or Bronchiectasis. Other interests that complement those of the existing consultants would also be welcome. This post involves rotation between on and off ward months with the other 2 consultants and includes on-call for General medicine, currently on a 1/11 basis.
