About the Role: Teaching Personnel is proud to be working with a dynamic and supportive school in Newport, looking to appoint a dedicated Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Years 3–6. In this role, you’ll work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to deliver targeted interventions and provide tailored support in core subjects —particularly literacy and numeracy. Whether you're supporting a Year 6 pupil preparing for SATs or helping a Year 4 child build their confidence in reading, your support will be key to unlocking potential and building lasting learning foundations. What You’ll Be Doing: ✔ Delivering small-group and 1:1 interventions in Maths, Reading, Writing, and SPaG ✔ Supporting pupils who may be falling behind, boosting both academic skills and self-esteem ✔ Working alongside class teachers to adapt and scaffold lessons for learners with varying needs ✔ Monitoring pupil progress and feeding back to teaching staff ✔ Supporting children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including those with ADHD, dyslexia, or SEMH challenges ✔ Encouraging positive learning behaviours, resilience, and independence in the classroom ✔ Assisting with general classroom duties and creating a focused, supportive learning environment We’re Looking for Someone Who: ✅ Has experience working in KS2 or a strong understanding of the primary curriculum ✅ Is confident delivering academic support in English and Maths, ideally up to Year 6 level ✅ Has a patient, calm, and supportive approach to helping children overcome learning barriers ✅ Can build strong working relationships with pupils and staff ✅ Is proactive, flexible, and eager to make a difference every day ✅ Experience with ALN/SEN support is a bonus, but full training is provided Requirements: EWC (Education Workforce Council) registration A valid child-only DBS registered on the Update Service Two professional references from the last 24 months Why This Role Matters: KS2 is a critical stage for consolidating learning and preparing for the transition to secondary school.
