Community Co-ordinator – Waffle Lyme
Contract Type: Fixed-term contract, ending 1 December 2027

Working Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: £25,920 (per annum) with annual adjustments to align with inflation rates as determined by The Community Waffle House CIC.
Annual Leave: 5.6 weeks per year (excluding Bank Holidays)
Brief Context:
The Community Waffle House CIC was established in 2019 based on a Christian ethos and with a vision to build the kind of communities that we dream of; communities where no one is left unseen, unheard and unwanted.
Everything we do both within our Waffle Houses and out-and-about in our community outreach work, is geared around developing the art of, and creating opportunities for, adventurous conversations.
Role Overview
Building on our own bespoke model for social-health community work, this role incorporates elements of traditional community building and community connecting roles. As the Community Coordinator for Waffle Lyme, you will be responsible for overseeing our community work in Lyme Regis. Crucially, this will require coordinating a team of volunteers, connecting with diverse stakeholders and engaging community members to design and implement a portfolio of projects to strengthen social infrastructure in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work closely with the Community Manager to champion and instil the ethos, vision & values of The Community Waffle House CIC in the Waffle Lyme community team.
* Recruit, train and co-ordinate a team of volunteers to implement a successful program of community support.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, local organizations, and partners.
* Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage the local community.
* Organize and lead community events, workshops, and projects that align with our mission.
* Work closely with the Waffle Lyme Café Manager to ensure the smooth integration of the community activities with the Waffle House operations in Lyme.
* Monitor and evaluate the impact of community projects, making adjustments as needed.
* Create engaging content to share stories of impact and encourage community involvement.
* Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, volunteer hours, and program outcomes.
* Assist in budgeting and fundraising efforts to support community projects.
* Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders and board members.
* To carry out other related tasks commensurate with the grade and nature of the post.
Person Specification/Key Competencies
This role is ideal for a proactive, relationship-driven individual who thrives in a community-focused environment. The successful candidate will be highly-self-motivated with a passion for community development and empowering others.
Essential:
* Proven experience in community engagement, workshop delivery, or event management.
* Knowledge of the local community and existing networks.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport across diverse audiences.
* Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workloads effectively.
* Familiarity with working in or alongside schools, community organizations, or healthcare settings.
* Competence in using digital tools for communication, reporting, and event promotion.
* Experience of leading, training and organising others, preferably in a voluntary context.
Desirable:
* Bachelor’s degree in community development, social work, communications, or a related field.
* Experience working with faith-based charities, businesses or social enterprises.
* Willingness to travel locally and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
