Product Development Role (Contract)
I am looking for a self-employed/freelance contractor on behalf of a Global Medical Device company in Cork. The role is to assist in the design and development of new processes for a new device, the ideal candidate will have experience with micro-catheters.
Purpose Statement: Collaborate closely with R&D Engineering and Manufacturing teams to develop robust and capable manufacturing processes for the production of medical devices. Manage multiple projects supporting large automation equipment used in the assembly and testing of medical devices, overseeing process and equipment builds from concept through to implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop robust, high-capability processes that yield high outputs.
Optimise process equipment and technology performance to ensure efficient and repeatable processes are transferred to manufacturing.
Work closely with R&D Engineering to develop new medical device designs and transfer validated designs to manufacturing.
Design and improve existing equipment and processes to facilitate New Product Introductions (NPIs).
Write and execute validations and qualifications.
Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives
Commission new micro catheter manufacturing technology, ramp up production, undertake validations, and continuously improve processes while identifying potential development opportunities for medical device technology.Qualifications & Experience:
Level 8 degree in a relevant Engineering or Science discipline (e.g., Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electronic, Production).
3+ years of relevant experience in the medical devices industry.
Essential:
Experience in at least one of the following areas:
Design of Experiments (DOE)
Process development and characterisation
Process problem solving
Process validation
Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control (DMAIC)
Equipment validation
New product introductions
