Duties:
* Responsible for supporting the Director of Student Experience and Transition to lead, develop and manage the strategic vision for SEND provision across the college group.
* Ensuring a high-quality provision with the aim of raising aspirations and achievement for students and apprentices with SEND. This will include supporting in the leadership and development of SEND and developing and improving the quality of teaching, monitoring and support.
* Specialist for SEND
Skills/Experience:
* Classroom teaching, tutorial work and associated outreach duties, residential, open and distance learning courses and student placements
* All associated organisational and administrative work, preparation and marking and appropriate student welfare and academic counselling responsibilities;
* Acting as a Personal Tutor to students as required and undertaking all of the associated duties including pastoral care support.
* Making a full contribution to the team approach to learning and teaching.
* Implementing a student-centred negotiated learning programme in accordance with the College’s curriculum framework.
* Implementing agreed induction procedures and processes for students.
* Ensuring that students are informed of what is expected of them at every stage of their programme and that an awareness of what the programme involves is a feature of all reviews undertaken with students.
* Ensuring that appropriate assignments, tasks and activities are regularly set and assessed and that feedback is given to students in ways that will allow them to develop and achieve progression.
* Contributing to the organisation of and ensure that there are appropriate work placements.
Qualifications:
* Minimum GCSE Grade 4 /C or Equivalent Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English
* Level 4 qualification in the relevant area of expertise (or commitment to achieving this in the required timeframe)
* Level 5 Teaching qualification (or commitment to achieving this in the required timeframe)
Ideal Attributes:
* Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people at all ages and levels
* Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines within a busy environment
* Good working knowledge of IT tools (ECDL or equivalent level)
* Innovative and creative approach to work
