Job Overview: As a Graduate Design Engineer, you will work closely with Lead Design Engineers, Electronics Hardware Engineers and the Head of Product to support the design and development of electric scooters. You will also be working with other multi-disciplinary teams across the business including operations, marketing and commercial to put or products in riders’ hands. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to develop practical engineering experience while contributing to exciting projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the design and development of new products from concept through to prototype and final production.
* Prototyping designs and assemblies in our workshop, using 3D printing and hand model making. Also working with external prototype manufacturers
* Work with lead engineers to generate CAD models and technical drawings using Onshape CAD software.
* Perform simulations to support design decisions and optimize product performance.
* Help with the selection of materials, components, and manufacturing processes for design solutions.
* Participate in design reviews, presentations, and brainstorming sessions.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality control, and Supply chain.
* Assist in the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, including specifications, testing procedures, and reports.
* Support product testing, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure designs meet quality standards and customer requirements.
* Keep up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in engineering design.
Skills and experience:
* Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. Onshape, Solidworks, NX, Creo etc). Proficiency in rendering software (e.g. Keyshot) is a bonus.
* Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials science, and design for manufacturability.
* Proficiency in model making and prototyping. Experience with 3D printing is a benefit.
* Familiarity with engineering simulations (e.g., FEA, CAE).
* Familiarity with Design for manufacture and design for assembly principles.
* Relevant work experience in an engineering role, ideally in a fast-moving product-led organisation is an advantage.
* Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques.
* Knowledge of electromechanical systems, batteries and motors is a benefit.
* Knowledge of UI/UX and human factors is a benefit.
* Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks efficiently.
* A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn. Including an interest in the future of micromobility.

Required Qualifications:
* A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related discipline.
