Teaching Assistant – SEMH School Full-Time | Temp-to-Perm Are you a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people? We are seeking a dedicated individual to join a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) school on a full-time, temp-to-perm basis. This role requires strong behaviour management skills, empathy, and a commitment to supporting students who face social and emotional challenges. You will play a key role in helping students re-engage with education, develop positive behaviours, and feel supported in a nurturing learning environment. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and classroom support, keeping students engaged and focused on learning. Implement effective behaviour management strategies to create a positive learning space. Build strong relationships with students, offering patience, understanding, and guidance. Support teachers in delivering lessons, adapting activities to meet individual needs. Help students manage emotions and behaviours in a healthy and constructive way. Work collaboratively with staff to maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment. Monitor student progress and provide feedback to help tailor support. What We’re Looking For Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in an SEMH or SEN setting. Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging situations. A genuine passion for supporting students with SEMH needs. Patience, empathy, and resilience to provide consistent, high-quality support. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
