The Diagnostics Production team provides genetically defined, human genomic reference standards, including FFPE cell line blocks and purified gDNA. These standards offer a sustainable source of reference material to laboratories, proficiency schemes, and manufacturers, and provide an unprecedented level of control to the molecular pathology community. The availability of genetically defined reference standards provides an industry standard for development and quality control of molecular assays, directly improving their accuracy. This is an onsite role with requirement to be hands on in the lab occasionally. Candidates should be organised, highly self-motivated, able to work to tight timelines and be comfortable working under pressure in an environment with shifting priorities. The role requires strong leadership and stakeholder management skills. Key Responsibilities Working as part of the Mimix business unit to support the manufacture of reference standards and release of new products. Leading process improvement and cost saving exercises. Management of the team budget covering consumables, training and capital expenditure. Leading meetings with small teams and groups, as well as presenting in larger company meetings. Holding team members accountable for meeting deadlines and supporting successful project completion. Communicating with stakeholders from various parts of the company such as Quality, Technical Support and Commercial. Day-to-day management of five scientists, including development conversations and talent reviews. Essential Competencies & Requirements Degree in Biotechnology or a Biological discipline. Previous industry experience, preferably in regulated environments such as GMP or ISO. Technical knowledge or expertise in Molecular Biology techniques such as nucleic acid extraction, PCR and cell culture with the ability to troubleshoot when issues arise. Experience in planning or delegation of work to junior team members. A careful and meticulous nature with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to work in a highly dynamic environment and on several different tasks concurrently. Ability to work to tight timelines and be able to manage a busy workload for self and others. Confident, flexible, adaptable and resilient. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Desirable Competencies & Requirements Management training or some experience leading others. Hands-on lab experience in relevant Molecular Biology techniques such as nucleic acid extraction, PCR and cell culture.
