Graduate Urban Designer
Purpose:
As an Urban Design Graduate, you will be expected to assist with a range of placemaking projects throughout the UK, Ireland and some overseas projects. Masterplans will also include urban regeneration, urban extensions, new settlements, site feasibility, community engagement, and urban design advice. You will work as part of the national studio, regardless of office location. No day will be the same within the pathway, where you will be constantly learning and expanding your knowledge.

Savills Urban Design Studio is a national team of professionals with a focus on designing and delivering sustainable placemaking. The studio sits within the Savills Planning Division, which comprises over 300 professionals across the UK, and is the largest planning consultancy in the country. Savills Urban Design Studio prides itself in delivering best practice in design, thought leadership, and the creation of high-quality places that people value.
The Studio has expertise in all aspects of placemaking, including new communities, environmental sustainability, social value, mixed-use developments, housing, and regeneration. We collaborate with the wider Savills specialisms, including Planning, Savills Earth, Economics, Social value, and Development Service. Our objective is to create high-quality and innovative places, underpinned by practical and deliverable development strategies.

Assessment for this role:
1. Online application - Applications close on 10th April 2025
2. Assessment Centre - Will take place in London on the 8th May 2025

Training:
Graduates are expected to have a good placemaking design knowledge and skills, relevant qualifications in design and built environment (such as urban design, architecture, landscape architecture).
Our training and development regime is one of the best in the property industry, and is geared towards enabling our people to reach their full potential.
As a graduate, you'll also have regular opportunities to attend technical, business skills and personal development activities - including conferences, courses, lectures, networking, and social events - which complement both your practical experience and meet the theoretical requirements of your Urban Design related qualification. You will be assigned a mentor who supports you throughout the two-year training programme.
Career development:
Once you've successfully passed your qualification and become a Recognised Practitioner in Urban Design, you'll continue to receive training and career development opportunities. We ensure that your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is current and that all staff are fully up-to-date with changes to legislation and business needs.
