Stinchar Valley Community Transport (SVCT) is a pilot project which involves the villages of Pinmore, Pinwherry, Barrhill, Colmonell, Ballantrae and Lendalfoot, linking these villages with each other, and Girvan. The aim of SVCT is to provide transport to allow residents to attend shops, clubs, healthcare appointments and social activities, at times when there is no scheduled bus service, which helps to overcome rural social isolation.
In the Development Officer’s Role, you will work with the SVCT steering group to identify further transport needs of the local communities to overcome social exclusion and improve health & wellbeing connections. This would include promoting the provision as well as working with the local communities to determine whether the service is meeting their needs. Yow would also support local residents to engage with services. You will take the lead in the managing of grant applications and building links with partners to support the future development of the provision.
The role is on a One Year Contract, which is funded by the Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund. It is available on either Self-Employed basis at 25hrs per week or by Directly Employed status at 22.5hrs per week. The pay rate would be £15 per hour.
• Work proactively with the Stinchar Valley Community Transport (SVCT) Steering Group to develop transport provision so residents can access services.
• Promote the SVCT provision to local residents and communities as well as groups out with the Stinchar Valley.
• Work with local residents and communities to determine whether the service is meeting the needs of the community as well as what improvements, if any, would be suggested from the experiences of users and the community.
• Carry out evaluation of the SVCT scheme.
• Organise community consultation, which may include events.
• Support local residents to engage with services, clubs and activities with the Stinchar Valley, and help these services to develop and grow.
• Prepare progress reports for the SVCT Steering Group on quarterly bases.
• Provide secretarial support for the SVCT Steering Group at their regular meetings.
• Take the lead with the SVCT Steering Group to identify and manage grant applications to external funders and forge links with other partners to support a programme of external funding to help the future development of community transport provision.
• Promote SVCT to local residents, community groups and local businesses and service providers.
