Test Engineer – Optics | North Wales | Precision Testing & QA We’re looking for a Test Engineer to join a leading technology company at their St Asaph site. This role is perfect for someone with a background in optical, mechanical, or electronic testing, who thrives in a fast-paced, high-tech environment. Working closely with engineering and production teams, you’ll be responsible for developing and executing test plans to ensure products meet strict mechanical, environmental, optical, and electronic performance standards. What You’ll Be Doing: Developing and running test plans, procedures, and reports based on customer requirements Setting up and configuring test fixtures, instrumentation, and automated/manual test equipment Operating data acquisition systems, environmental chambers, and precision measurement tools Managing multiple test projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance Designing and implementing test fixtures and new testing equipment Supporting production teams with standardized product testing Overseeing subcontractor tasks and sourcing lab supplies What You’ll Need: Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Physics) 3 years’ experience in a testing environment, ideally with opto-mechanical components Strong knowledge of mechanical, electronic, and optical imaging systems Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specs, and industry standards Experience with data acquisition, analysis, and processing Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to work both independently and within a team in a high-tech, fast-paced environment Experience working within a Quality Management System (QMS) Bonus Skills (Desirable but not essential): Hands-on experience with optical and mechanical components Knowledge of 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) Experience with LabVIEW or automation software Understanding of Quality Control principles What’s on Offer: Competitive salary 26 days holiday bank holidays 6% employer pension contribution Performance-based bonus scheme Health Cash Plan This is a great opportunity to work at the forefront of optical testing and precision engineering.
