About The Role
As a PE Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality physical education lessons that encourage students to explore a range of physical activities, build their fitness and enhance their skills. You will work in a collaborative and inclusive school environment, where students are encouraged to reach their full potential in both their physical and academic pursuits.
Key Responsibilities Of The PE Teacher
* Deliver engaging and effective PE lessons that inspire students to develop both their physical fitness and athletic abilities.
* Plan and implement dynamic lesson plans that cater to a diverse range of student abilities, ensuring all learners are engaged and motivated.
* Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their skills and achieve their full potential.
* Foster an inclusive classroom environment where every student’s unique needs and strengths are acknowledged and supported.
* Organise and lead extracurricular activities, including sports teams and physical fitness events, to encourage students to stay active beyond the classroom.
* Maintain a safe and supportive environment, ensuring students are always adhering to health and safety guidelines during physical activities.
* Work closely with colleagues to contribute to the wider school community and promote a holistic approach to student development.
PE Teacher Requirements
* The successful candidate must hold a PGCE in Physical Education (or a relevant subject) with Qualified Teaching Status (QTS).
* Experience teaching PE at the secondary school level is preferred, although Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who have completed their training placements are encouraged to apply.
* A passion for physical education and the ability to inspire students to engage in a wide variety of sports and fitness activities.
* Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
* An understanding of the importance of health, fitness and mental well-being in a young person’s development.
* A commitment to extracurricular involvement, including organising and participating in school sports teams and events.
* Have an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
* Be able to provide a ten-year career history with relevant reference details covering the last two years, including your most recent place of academic employment.
