As a result of our expanding portfolio of clients and projects, we are now building capacity and expertise across the business and have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee QC Engineer to join our dynamic team here at QEM Solutions.
The role will be initially based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire and will involve a significant amount of travel around the UK.
As a trainee QC Engineer, you will gain detailed knowledge and experience of inspection and wider quality aspects. These will relate mainly to materials quality, certification and construction inspection techniques such as Painting/Coating, Visual Welding Inspection, MPI & UT in one or more sectors across the water and energy landscape.
The role is designed to provide QC technical support, NDT and Inspection duties across a range of construction projects to ensure compliance with legislation, industry standards, and client specifications, procedures, and quality management system requirements. During your training, which will be funded by the company, you will receive the best quality mentoring and support from our highly experienced team.

What are we looking for?
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual with a passion for engineering and a desire to learn. In addition, the following qualifications, experience, and understanding would be very valuable:
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
* 2-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing or construction-related environment, preferably fabrication and welding or other manufacturing type processes.
* A basic knowledge of materials, welding, painting, and coating would be advantageous.
* Basic understanding of the use and content of engineering drawings.
* Some basic knowledge of standards & specifications and their use.
* IT literate (good understanding of Excel and Word, use of laptops, tablets, etc.).
* 5 x GCSEs to include English, Maths, and at least 1 Science subject – level C/4 minimum.
* Willing to obtain an HNC in a relevant engineering discipline (with additional company support).
* Full driving license.
* Right to work in the UK.

* Willing and able to work away from home for extended periods.
* A genuine interest in the Engineering and/or Construction industry.
* Able to develop and maintain excellent relationships with colleagues and clients and demonstrate good communication skills.
* Be able to demonstrate integrity in decision-making (especially when under pressure).
* Diligent with good attention to detail.
* Possess an inquisitive and curious mind with a passion for self-development and learning.
