Stage Machinery Project Engineer - Covent Garden2-year fixed term contractCompetitive based on skills and experienceFull time (40 hours per week) - including some evening and overnight workBased in: Covent Garden, LondonThe Royal Ballet and Opera is continuing to deliver on a major programme of work - known as the Renewal Programme - which will bring together a range of energy and sustainability initiatives, infrastructure replacement works, and individual projects which will help to transform the working environment across our estate. Our attention now needs to turn to planning the upgrade and ongoing maintenance of the remainder of the stage machinery.We are seeking to recruit a Stage Machinery Project Engineer to work alongside the Stage Machinery Project Manager and Technical Estate Renewal Programme Lead on the upgrade of key machinery, including: False proscenium Lighting batten winches Performer elevators and traps Scenery wagon systemThese upgrades need to be completed in a busy live performance environment, so you will act as the link between project work and business as usual; working closely with key stakeholders from the Technical and Production teams to ensure there is no impact on their schedule and production requirements. To facilitate this, the role will require occasional evening and overnight workOur ideal candidate will be an open and confident communicator, who can manage a team of external contractors to critical project deadlines. With a keen interest in developing related skills on the job, you will be able to demonstrate: Proven stage machinery installation, operation, and/or support experience within the entertainment industry Experience in commissioning motion control systems The ability to follow electrical schematics and diagrams A good understanding of hydraulic systems Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to problem solve independently A good understanding of Construction Design Management (CDM) regulationsThe Royal Ballet and Opera is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment in which everyone can thrive.
