The post-holder will be an integral part of the urology team, working closely with the wider MDT. Specifically responsible for the co-ordination and care of uro-oncology patients, providing specialist expertise and support.
Key responsibilities:-
· Co- ordination of care for own caseload of uro-oncology patients.
· Nurse led bladder instillation
· Adherence to 28/62-day targets.
· Support the rapid diagnostic pathways
· Review of investigations and appropriate action dependant on results.
· Review of patients independently, advising on care and treatment in line with protocols.
· Liaison with and referral to specialist centres.
· Excellent communication and support of patients and families / carers in situations that can be emotionally challenging.
· Effective communication with other teams’ members
· Provide specialist advice and clinical practice

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

This post is ideally suited to a nursing professional with experience of urological nursing and the care of urology patients with a suspected or proven cancer diagnosis. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the patients journey from investigation, through to diagnosis, treatment and beyond in accordance with national, regional and local guidelines, standards and protocols. The successful candidate will demonstrate the required skills and knowledge and will need to be motivated and enthusiastic to develop and maintain their own skills. This will ensure that the most positive outcomes for patients are achieved.
