Building Control Surveyor Permanent – Full time Location: Heathrow Airport (2 days working from home/3 days onsite) Must hold a current license as a Registered Building Inspector at Class 3G or 3H level (Class 2F considered) Role Overview: We are seeking a Building Control Surveyor to provide technical leadership and support in building control for a diverse portfolio of projects, including major developments in complex environments. The role involves offering expert advice on building regulations, quality management, and business initiatives, while ensuring projects comply with legal and safety standards. This position will also occasionally provide technical support in areas where building regulations may not apply. Key Responsibilities: Provide building control services for a range of projects or work packages of any size, including major developments in complex environments. Ensure compliance with building regulations and manage the building control role for each project. Regularly communicate with key stakeholders within and outside of Heathrow to maintain service standards and ensure projects are delivered in compliance with building regulations. Assess the compliance of relevant projects with Building Regulations and Health and Safety matters, and permit or refuse project handover as appropriate. Operate in line with RBCA and RBI licence obligations. Ensure building control activities meet performance standards and comply with internal ISO 9001 Quality Management processes and provide progress reports to Senior Building Control Surveyors and/or the Head of Building Control. Provide mentoring and support to less experienced members of the building control team. Contribute to the development of the building control role and service standards across Heathrow. Qualifications, Skills, and Experience: Essential: Must hold a current license as a Registered Building Inspector at Class 3G or 3H level (Class 2F considered). Degree in Building Control or a related construction discipline. Full membership of a relevant professional institution such as RICS, CABE, CIOB, or CIBSE. Strong understanding of building regulations, health and safety matters, and quality management processes. Experience in delivering building control services across a range of projects, including large and complex developments. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to mentor and support junior team members. Desirable: Previous experience in a similar building control or regulatory role, particularly in complex, high-profile environments. Experience working with or within Heathrow or similarly regulated and large-scale developments.
